Introduction
Welcome to the Ministering to Muslims website! This site is intended to be a resource for those who wish to better understand Islam, and to also provide tools for those who want to share the good news of Jesus Christ with Muslims.
It would be wrong to assume, even if a Muslim has immigrated to the non-Muslim lands of the West, that he is likely to know what is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The word Injil, which is what Muslims call the gospel, is derived from the Greek word evangel, which translated literally means “good news, or good tidings”. As Muslims understand it, however, the Injil is a book of Islamic laws and pronouncements that was delivered to the prophet Jesus by the angel Gabriel, similar to the way that the Quran is believed to have been given to Muhammad.
Muslims have no real understanding that the actual “good news” is the gospel message that the eternal, living Word of God, Jesus Christ, became flesh and dwelt among us, offering up His life on the cross as an atonement for our sins in obedience to the will of the Father. The proof that Jesus’ sacrifice has been accepted is that He rose again from the dead on the third day. All this was foretold in amazing detail more than 700 years before the time of Christ by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah chapter 53, as well as in numerous other places throughout the Old Testament scriptures.
When a person accepts Jesus’ sacrifice for his sins and places his trust in Him, he experiences God’s forgiveness and the spiritual rebirth by the Spirit of God, and is brought into a right relationship with God, to live now under His promises and blessings. All the self-efforts of man to earn his own salvation, or to gain merit with God through works (which are the foundation of Islam), will never give a person a new spirit and a new heart, or bring him into a real and personal relationship with God. Jesus saves, not religion!
In the Bible, John 3:16-17, Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” We believe that Muslims should have the same opportunity to hear the gospel and receive Christ as anyone else. Jesus came to save sinners, and that covers each and every one of us.
Site Organization
On the Seminar on Islam page, there is a three and a half hour Seminar on Islam which can be viewed online. This seminar is divided into three sections, the first part dealing with the history of Islam, the second part, explaining what Muslims believe, and the third part, discussing how you can reach out to Muslims.
On the Books & Tracts page, we are offering downloads of the book Jesus & Muhammad in different languages. This book, written by a former Muslim fundamentalist, is a fascinating and informative book, good for both Muslims and non-Muslims to read. There are also some free Christian tracts in Arabic in PDF form which can be printed out and distributed.
On the Sites for Muslims page, there are links to online websites good to tell your Muslim friends about. The Understanding Islam page has links to other sites where you can learn more about Islam, and help you to answer questions and arguments that Muslims have.
The In the News page is a blog list of news articles and news commentaries which relate to Islam and similar matters of interest. There is also a Support Info page for those who would like information on supporting our ministry.
